Final day: bet365 Supercomputer backs Galopin Des Champs… but will another favourite fall?

Key points:

– The Bet365 Supercomputer aims to predict winners by using a number of key characteristics within its database

– Galopin Des Champs attempts a Cheltenham Gold Cup Hat-trick

The famed bet365 ‘Supercomputer’ is powered by 25 years of horseracing data that analyses each horse’s ability. Characteristics such as age, previous form, historical odds and trainer records are formulated to predict a horse’s performance.

The Supercomputer has predicted the seven winners for today’s races  the final day of the Cheltenham Festival, featuring the showcase race, The Boodles Gold Cup.

The day starts off with the Triumph Hurdle, with the Supercomputer selecting Hello Neighbour as the value pick at 6/1.

The County Handicap Hurdle sees the Supercomputer taking a brave stance by backing double-digit odds, Ethical Diamond.

It ontinues to ignore betting market leaders in the third race, the Mares’ Chase, opting for Limerick Lace. Although Dinoblue is the strong 6/4 favourite, the Supercomputer data formulator believes this will be a tighter contest than the odds suggest.

The following race is the headline event, the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Here, however, the Supercomputer agrees with the odds markets, that Galopin Des Champs is a worthy 8/15 favourite.

Galopin Des Champs will be looking to make history in achieving a hat-trick of Gold Cup wins. Only four horses have previously achieved such a feat, most notably the great Arkle in the 1960’s, followed by Best Mate in 2004.

Recently retired jockey Aidan Coleman agrees: “Galopin Des Champs is by far the best horse in the race. I think he should be 1/10, I really do! You’re pretty much backing him to jump around, which isn’t always straightforward, but if he does that, he’ll win.”

Good to know:  The bet365 Supercomputer correctly predicted Fact To File as winner on Day 3, although multiple favourites have fallen badly this week, making it a great Festival for operators

In the penultimate race, the Festival Challenge Cup Open Hunters’ Chase, the Supercomputer and oddsmakers are in agreement once again, both selecting It’s On The Line, currently vying for joint-favouritism with Angels Dawn.

The final race of the Festival, the Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle, predicts another potential upset, with the Supercomputer selecting Park of Kings over favourite Kopeck De Mee.
