MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS
In February 2023, Boyd Gaming announced a deal with Las Vegas Raiders, which designated Boyd’s 10 Las Vegas Valley casinos as the Official and Exclusive Local Casinos of the Raiders.
In January 2023, Boyd Gaming and FanDuel Group announced the launch of the online FanDuel Sportsbook in Ohio and the opening of a new retail sportsbook at Belterra Park Cincinnati.
The initial partnership between Boyd Gaming and FanDuel was announced in 2018 when the two operators signed an agreement that gave Boyd access to FanDuel’s sportsbook technology and services for its online platform.
EMPLOYMENT
Smith also served as the COO of Boyd Gaming Corporation between October 2001 and December 2007.
Prior to being appointed the COO, Smith was Boyd Gaming’s SVP from May 1998 through October 2001.
He joined the company in September 1990 as a Corporate Controller, being responsible for enhancing financial controls and overseeing compliance with the company’s policies and procedures.
While working with Boyd Gaming Corporation, Smith held various other positions, including Chairman of the Nevada Resort Association from December 2008 until December 2011 and Member of the Board of Directors of the American Gaming Association (AGA) since January 2008. He also served as AGA’s Chairman in 2010 and 2011.
Between 2005 and January 2011, he served as Vice Chairman of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
In January 2012, Smith was appointed the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s Los Angeles Branch, after having been a Director of that Board since January 2009.

In January 2016, Smith talked to Gambling Insider about the company’s expansion under his leadership, his position at AGA and other important positions he held during his career.
Smith also participated in a US CEO Special with Gambling Insider in 2019, where he spoke about the culture of his company.
