Sportradar to provide integrity services for 2020 IPL season

Sportradar will monitor the integrity of all matches in the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, after signing an agreement with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The data supplier’s Integrity Services will support the Indian cricket governing body’s anti-corruption unit, by monitoring and safeguarding every match of the upcoming season, to detect betting irregularities.

The agreement will also see Sportradar provide a risk assessment to the BCCI based on intelligence and data insights, who will be able to call upon the data supplier’s Intelligence and Investigation Services.

Sportradar’s Integrity Services managing director Andreas Krannich said: “As the global leader in sporting integrity, we hope to provide our expertise and help protect the tournament against integrity related issues.

“We know that the BCCI takes integrity seriously, and we look forward to working alongside them throughout the tournament and providing our support to their integrity programme.”

The Twenty20 cricket league begins its new season on 19 September in the UAE, after originally being scheduled for March, but the coronavirus pandemic forced it out of India. Online fantasy gaming platform Dream11, will be the title sponsor for the 2020 season.

The league has had issues with unusual betting patterns in the past, with three Indian cricketers, including former international Sreesanth, banned for a number of years in 2013 as a result of alleged spot-fixing.

Sportradar provides similar services with the likes of FIFA, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the National Football League (NFL) and National Basketball Association (NBA).
