The initiative will focus on information exchange involving regulatory policy and practice. It will also aim to identify opportunities to advance efficient and effective gaming regulation. According to the statement, both organizations “look forward to the outcomes of this collaboration over the next 12 months and building on this initiative over time.”

IAGR president Mabutho Zwane said: “As regulators, we recognize that dialogue with industry is fundamental to both understand the sector and make informed decisions which can advance efficient and effective gambling regulation.” He stated the initiative is currently particularly important since there’s an opportunity to utilise technology to facilitate innovation in regulatory practice.

IGSA president Peter DeRaedt expressed his belief that partnership between authorities will help to enhance regulatory oversight: “Our collaboration with IAGR is an enormous step forward towards the betterment of the gaming industry as a whole. Our organisation is very excited about the opportunities this new collaboration presents.”
