Melco plans to open City of Dreams Mediterranean in summer 2022

Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd announced its integrated resort City of Dreams Mediterranean in Cyprus will open in summer 2022. The project, located in Limassol, is set to be Europe’s largest IR and was supposed to open its doors in late 2021, but the opening was delayed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The IR will feature a 16-story, five-star hotel with approximately 500 rooms, an outdoor amphitheatre, a family adventure park and various retail and food venues. The property is said to also include 10,000 square meters of meeting, incentive, conference and exhibition space.

“Construction work is progressing smoothly and even though the Covid-19 outbreak has impacted our original timeline, we remain committed to this ground-breaking project,” said Grant Johnson, property GM of City of Dreams Mediterranean and Cyprus Casinos. “We aim to establish a unique destination, offering a premium entertainment experience to our guests while creating real value for the country’s economy and society. City of Dreams Mediterranean is set to enrich Cyprus’ tourism landscape, attracting an additional 300,000 visitors per year to the island.”

In the released statement, the company expressed confidence the IR would help offset the recent lack of seasonal tourism in Cyprus, as well as create thousands of jobs.
