Bassey advised the group that her intent not to stand for re-election is due to other professional commitments, as well as challenges that have arisen due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
She will now serve out her remaining term, and depart from the board and its nominating and corporate governance committee after the conclusion of the firm’s annual general meeting of shareholders on 11 May 2021.
“On behalf of the IGT board of directors, I would like to thank Beatrice for her dedicated service and valuable contributions to the board. We wish her well in her future endeavours,” said Lorenzo Pellicioli, chairman of the company's board of directors.
Upon the conclusion of the upcoming AGM, the company’s board of directors will be reduced to ten directors effective immediately.
Bassey said it was a “privilege to work alongside the terrific board and talented and dedicated staff of the company,” and that she remains supportive of the company’s policies, operations and strategy.
IGT earlier this month announced details of its 2021 AGM and 2020 annual report, stating: “In light of the Covid-19 related government restrictions and measures relating to social gatherings which are presently in place and the overriding health and safety concerns, the board of directors has decided to hold this year's AGM as a closed meeting with only the minimum quorum of two shareholders present, in addition to the usual supporting staff, reduced to a minimum.”
