Three Las Vegas casinos reintroduce mandatory mask wearing

The Venetian, the Palazzo and the Sands Expo & Convention Center have announced the reimposing of mask mandates for employees.

Three Las Vegas casinos reintroduce mandatory mask wearing

The change in policy from the trio comes after the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) made new recommendations.

The SNHD said: “With the rise in cases and slowing vaccine rates in Clark County, the Health District’s recommendation to wear masks in crowded public settings, including grocery stores, malls, large events, and casinos, is a step to fully utilise the tools we have available to stop the pandemic.”

The casinos will enforce the wearing of masks indoors even if employees have been vaccinated.

Keith Salwoski, a spokesman for The Venetian, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that “complimentary face masks are available to our guests at front desks, Grazie desks and concierge desks.”

Not too long ago, casinos in Las Vegas were celebrating the removal of mandatory mask-wearing as people started to receive their final doses of the vaccine.

Vaccinated guests or employees were allowed to enter these venues without the need for masks; however, it seems  this will change.

With the first three casinos announcing the reversal, there could be more companies that follow suit.

Speaking on Fox & Friends First, Las Vegas Councilwoman Michele Fiore felt  the reimposing of masks will “slow down progress.”

Fiore said: “I think it’s not going to be good for business, right now we have a shortage of staff.

“We have folks that are not going enjoy wanting to put a mask back on and I think they’re not going to want to go back to work.”
