According to a statement from Lanre Gbajabiamila, Director-General of the NLRC, all the major stakeholders in the lottery business in the country have been invited to take part in the conference.

It gets underway today at Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, where it is hoped that concrete contributions will be made towards the further development of lottery in Nigeria.

The conference includes key figures such as Senator George Akume, Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Yahaya Maikori, Founder of Law Alliance, and Senator Obinna Ogba, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Affairs.

Also providing their perspectives are Hon. Akin Alabi, Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, and Alhaji Abdulfatai Ibikunle, Chairman, Governing Board of the Commission.

Issues under consideration include understanding financial regulatory obligations of gaming operators, responsible gaming and player protection, developing local technology for the gaming industry, and legislative reforms for the gaming industry in the 21st century, among others.

The two-day conference is the first of its kind in the history of lottery in the country, with sponsors of the event including the likes of Premier Lotto and Bet Bonanza.
