It's a done deal: Marcus Boyle appointed as Chairman of the Gambling Commission

Marcus Boyle has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Gambling Commission by The Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, The Rt Hon Oliver Dowden MP.Boyle's five-year term commences in September 2021 and he will be taking over the role from Bill Moyes, whose five-year term as Chairman of the gambling watchdog comes to an end this year. Boyle is a former board member at accountancy firm Deloitte, is Chairman of the British American Drama Academy and is a trustee of the Serpentine Gallery. This role helped his application as the new Chairman of the Gambling Commission, with his new position seen as “a positive for the betting industry,” according to the Racing Post. As the job itself is unanimously known as a tough role to tackle, filling this position comes with great respect. However, some have suggested the role should be filled by a candidate with gambling and gaming experience under their belt.
