Sportradar named as new ICC data and betting partner

Sportradar has become the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) latest top data and betting partner.

The ICC looks to leverage the provider’s data know-how for 275 top-tier matches, covering eight of the biggest tournaments.

Beginning in October with the Men’s T20 World Cup in India, the deal is set to last through to the Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2023.

Finn Bradshaw, the ICC’s Head of Digital, was optimistic about the organisations’ partnership, commenting: “The innovative use of sports data is one of the key pillars of our digital strategy. This partnership with Sportradar will help us grow our global cricket fanbase and deepen our engagement with it.”

The ICC hopes Sportradar will bring its technology and expertise to bear in providing the best coverage for cricket’s estimated two-and-a-half billion fans around the world.

Backed by InteractSport, a subsidiary of Sportradar, the company will deploy its Cricket Live Score Plus (CLS+) data-capture tool, enabling fielding positions and actions to be plotted for the very first time.

In addition, Sportradar will integrate the official ICC data into its Premium Cricket Service, enhancing its offering to sportsbook operators, while also powering the organisation’s digital platforms, including and the official ICC mobile app.

On top of everything else, Sportradar’s Integrity Services will provide the ICC with bet monitoring and reporting for all 275 matches via its Universal Fraud Detection System.

“Cricket is among the most popular sports globally, and we see huge potential to grow its fan base still further, helping fans interact with the game on an even deeper level,” said David Lampitt, MD of Sports Content and Partnerships at Sportradar.

“Our partnership with the ICC is an exciting step towards engaging those new fans and, with the full breadth of our unique technology powering it, we will deliver enhanced cricket content globally – across a range of platforms.”
