888 out, Greentube in: Novomatic Interactive division makes Dutch debut with Holland Casino deal

888 Holdings will temporarily bow out of the Netherlands’ online gambling space while Greentube steps in for the first time following an agreement with Holland Casino.

Amid the country’s recent regulatory reshuffle, online betting giant 888 will suffer a $10m earnings hit after being forced to cease offering its services to Dutch players.

However, citizens of the Netherlands can try out the Novomatic-owned Greentube’s games line-up after the company put pen to paper on a distribution deal with the state-run Holland Casino.

Now available to Dutch players are fan favourite titles like Book of Ra deluxe and Sizzling Hot deluxe, alongside digital conversions of amusement with prize (AWP) titles such as Club 2000, Gemini Twin, Grand Slam Casino, Mega Slam Casino and Random Runner.

While 888 must await a licence to operate in the country, which it hopes to receive during the second half of 2022, Greentube is celebrating its entry into the new market.

“We are happy to team up together with Novomatic’s long-term partner Holland Casino and go live in the Netherlands, which is a market we see holding plenty of potential,” said Markus Antl, Head of Sales and Key Account Management at Greentube.

“This is definitely a milestone for us, and we are looking forward to a successful partnership.”

Holland Casino will be Greentube’s first B2B partner in the Netherlands’ newly regulated online gambling sector, through which the provider will offer its games via a Dutch supplier licence; however, the operator has a long-standing relationship with Novomatic’s land-based division.

This news also comes a few days after Oryx Gaming went live with its content in the country via Holland Casino, and only a few weeks after online gambling was launched in the Netherlands on 1 October.

Commenting on its partnership with Greentube, Jeroen Verkroost, Digital Transformation Director at Holland Casino, said: “Dutch players have long relished the opportunity to play their favourite games online in a safe, controlled and secure environment.

“By offering them classic slots including Book of Ra and Sizzling Hot as well as a wide selection of popular AWP titles, we are sure that this partnership with Greentube will mark the latest chapter in our long history of success with Novomatic.”
