FIH appoints Sportradar as exclusive betting and gaming data rights partner
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced a global partnership with sports betting data company Sportradar. The agreement aims to make it the exclusive betting and gaming data rights partner for the hockey’s world governing body through the end of the 2029/30 season.
Sportradar will obtain and distribute betting data worldwide from all FIH competitions, including the FIH Hockey World Cups, World Cup Qualifiers, Pro League and more – which involves around 300 matches each season.
FIH will also be provided with a bespoke Competition Management platform (made available to all FIH member associations, continental and national) to manage data and tournaments.
The platform is designed to be tailor-made in line with FIH’s rules and regulations to assist in the management of match results, competitions, rankings, player protection and more.
Sportradar’s bet monitoring system, Universal Fraud Detection service (UFDS), will help maintain the integrity of FIH competitions. Prevention and educational workshops will also be provided to officials.
Ed Blonk, Sportradar CCO and Regional CEO APAC, said: “Sportradar’s expertise in leveraging the power of sports data will allow us to create bespoke solutions for FIH that will help to elevate the profile of hockey and enable the continued growth of the game. We look forward to collaborating with FIH to create enhanced levels of engagement with hockey fans around the world.”
Thierry Weil, FIH CEO, added: “One of our key initiatives is to develop exciting and entertaining events that are meaningful for athletes, as well as fan-focused to attract new fans and boost participation. With Sportradar’s proven track record supporting some of the world’s biggest sports federations, we are confident that this partnership will largely contribute to growing hockey globally through bespoke data.
“Furthermore, we’re looking forward to benefitting from Sportradar’s expertise in providing intelligence solutions to maintain sport’s integrity.”
