The Swedish operator will sponsor the South American football tournament as it looks to boost its LatAm profile.
To this end, Betsson will run a series of marketing and PR activities throughout the championship’s latest season, which will be called “Pernambucano Betsson 2022” and starts on 22 January.
“The finals of the Pernambucano 2021 attracted a record audience. According to TV Globo’s data, we surpassed the finals of the Paulista and Carioca Championships,” said Evandro Carvalho, President of the Pernambuco Soccer Federation (FPF).
“We are very happy with Betsson’s support, which allows us to invest even more in football in Pernambuco, and pay for all the officials of the championship, such as the referees, assistant referees and video assistant referees (VAR) in the final stages.
“Betsson is a market leader that is betting on the credibility that the Federation has earned over the years.”
With 9.6 million people, Pernambuco is the seventh-most populous state of Brazil and is located in the South American country’s Northeast region.
Betsson has maintained a presence in Brazil since 2019, and in 2021, became the official sponsor of football team Íbis Sport Club, a founding member of FPF who will, in 2022, compete in the A1 Series of Pernambucano for the first time in 21 years.
