The grant has been earmarked, first and foremost, for a multi-year programme of research concerning young adult gamblers.

It is hoped that this research will ultimately lead to a better understanding of the health risks facing young adult gamblers, and help improve the effectiveness of existing responsible gambling tools.

“We take seriously our responsibility to educate the public, including young adult gamblers, and our employees about responsible gaming, Bally’s is committed to this work,” commented Robeson Reeves, President of Interactive at Bally’s Corporation.

“We look forward to working with ICRG on cutting-edge scientific research on gambling among young adults and the usage and effectiveness of responsible gambling tools.”

The ICRG will invite scientists from around to world to apply for funding, but the organisation is looking to extend any findings beyond the realm of academia.

With this in mind, the ICRG will sponsor programming to provide guidelines for the industry on effective responsible gambling strategies.

The non-profit organisation, formerly known as the National Center for Responsible Gambling (NCRG), was founded in 1996.

Other projects currently in progress include an evaluation of self-imposed limits on time and money spent gambling, as well as the national impact of sports wagering.

Arthur Paikowsky, ICRG President, said: “With this grant, Bally’s Corporation has taken a giant stride toward understanding the health risks of young adult gamblers and improving the effectiveness of existing responsible gambling tools.

“The ICRG salutes Bally’s Corporation for making such a huge impact on the field of gambling studies.”
