IBIA and DSWV join forces on sports betting integrity

The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) and the German Sports Betting Association (DSWV) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), underlining their “common goal of promoting a regulated and secure sports betting market and the integrity of sport.”

The associations each represent a number of the same operators, which constitute several of the sports betting market leaders in Germany and internationally.

“The partnership between the German Sports Betting Association and IBIA is another welcome step forward for the German sports betting industry,” said DSWV President Mathias Dahms.

“With its many years of international experience and expertise in the field of sports integrity, the IBIA will support us in strengthening the regulated market and protecting it from manipulation. We therefore look forward to many joint projects and constructive cooperation.”

Through joint projects, the two associations will focus on activities aimed at promoting a viable regulated sports betting market in Germany with high consumer channelling and related consumer, sports and operator integrity protection measures.

IBIA CEO Khalid Ali commented: “IBIA recognises the important work that the DSWV has done over the years in transforming the German regulated sports betting market. That market transformation is ongoing and betting integrity is a key part of that discussion.

“Indeed, the market provides a number of important opportunities and challenges for both of our associations and their respective members. IBIA looks forward to working closely with the DSWV to improve and protect the German sports betting market for consumers, sports and betting operators.”

Last month, Sporttrade joined the IBIA. Also in October, esports data company Grid received accreditation from the IBIA for its data collection and distribution services in esports betting.
