GGPoker receives German gambling licence

GGPoker, operated by NSUS Malta, has received permission to host online poker from the State Administration Office of Saxony-Anhalt. The permit is initially limited to five years.

“Active in the global Poker and iGaming market since 2017, GGPoker has become the world’s largest poker room thanks to its innovative approach to poker,” a statement from the group read.

“As an official sponsor of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Las Vegas, GGPoker is the direct link to the world stage of poker.”

GGPoker offers Rush & Cash poker, All-In or Fold, Flip & Go, Spin & Gold, Battle Royale, GGCare & GGCheers, among others. In 2020, the company hosted the WSOP Online main event, along with the WSOP 2020 Main Event.

“We are delighted to have gone the long and constructive path with the German authorities,” said Sven Stiel, NSUS Germany. “We are now able to offer our high-quality, innovative and secure poker environment officially and legally backed.

“This is the decisive step towards modern iGaming in Germany under professional and customer-oriented conditions.”

In October 2022, GGPoker was fined £672,829 ($742,000) by the Gambling Commission for social responsibility and anti-money laundering failures.

The Commission found that the operator had failed to identify customers at risk of experiencing harmful gambling – while also failing to interact with those at risk of gambling-related harm. Furthermore, the brand sent out marketing emails to 125 customers who were on the self-exclusion list.

Also in October, WSOP and GGPoker Network launched WSOP.ca, an online poker room in the Canadian province of Ontario.
