Catena Media has announced the appointment of Erik Edeen as interim CFO.

Edeen will be following in the footsteps of Peter Messner, who revealed he will leave the role in February 2023, having held it since April 2020.

Messner will leave the company in June after a handover period, with Edeen beginning the role on 23 May.

Edeen has 16 years of experience in financial management, working in private and public corporations, including ICA Gruppen AB and Investor AB.

He recently worked as a strategic advisor to a global media company, and holds a Master of Business and Economics with a major in Financial Accounting from Uppsala University.

Edeen is no stranger to this role, having served as Catena Media's interim CFO in 2019 to 2020.

Catena Media CEO Michael Daly said: “I’m excited to welcome Erik as our interim CFO. His long professional career and past experience of Catena Media will make him a valuable member of the executive management team.”

Previously, Catena Media announced a three-year partnership with Lee Enterprises.

As part of this deal, Catena Media will oversee all of Lee Enterprises' brands, including its flagship website frontpagebets.com.

Via this agreement, Catena Media was able to expand to Missouri, Texas, Minnesota, Alabama and North Carolina.

Catena also posted positive numbers for 2022, with €110.1m (£96m) in revenue, a 7% increase from the previous year.

But GiG group acquired several casino affiliate websites from Catena Media earlier this year, including Askgamblers.com, Johnslots.com, newcasinos.com as well as several other smaller websites.
