This acquisition represents a significant step for Better Collective in expanding its reach and strengthening its position in the Danish sports media landscape.
The acquisition involves a total purchase price of €6.5m on a cash and debt-free basis, to be paid in three instalments. Better Collective plans to finance the acquisition using cash, and anticipates a post-synergy EBITDA multiple of below 5x for 2024. The financial targets for 2023 remain unchanged post-acquisition.
Tipsbladet, a trusted sports media entity with a legacy spanning 75 years, has evolved from a traditional printed magazine to a modern digital platform. As of Oct. 2, 2023, Tipsbladet.dk will officially join Better Collective, which is headquartered in Denmark.
Following the acquisition, Jesper Søgaard, Co-Founder & CEO of Better Collective, said: “I am very proud that we have acquired Tipsbladet that for 75 years has been a go-to sports media for many Danes that want to engage with prime soccer content.”
Henrik Stegger Nielsen, the former owner of Tipsbladet, added: “Since 2007, when I acquired Tipsbladet, I have worked hard to make it a healthy and sustainable business.
“I have succeeded, and I could hardly imagine a better buyer for Tipsbladet than Better Collective. I know that they will both take good care of Tipsbladet and, with their ambitions and competencies, develop it even further."
Tipsbladet, founded in 1948, is the oldest football magazine in the Nordics.
Since 2000, its digital edition, tipsbladet.dk, has evolved into a digital platform for soccer-related content, including news, articles, match previews, betting tips, videos, and analysis.
It attracts a monthly audience of approximately 6.8 million visits and boasts over 110 thousand followers across major social media platforms.
