Operator Leon has announced the acquisition of operational casino and sports betting licences in Tanzania, marking its official debut in the African market.
The digital entertainment company is currently initiating a phase of global expansion, which has led to successful applications for two separate licences from the Tanzania Gaming Board, allowing the business to offer both casino and sports betting products in the market.
This latest announcement follows the company’s recent collaboration with four MMA fighters, which sought to enhance the brand’s recognition within the sport’s community. Partnership agreements with fighters Justin Tafa, Junior Tafa, Joshua Culibao and Hakaraia Wilson were reached in April, and have seen the athletes engage in a range of promotional activities.
With regard to this latest development, Tanzania has been selected as the optimal African market for Leon to make its continental debut.
Jérôme J. Dufourg, Regional Director of Operations (Africa) at Leon, said: “Entering Tanzania is the beginning of a new chapter for Leon in Africa as the company continues to redefine industry benchmarks through its expansion worldwide, delivering innovative digital entertainment solutions to new audiences and propelling our goal to be a market leader and setting industry standards for excellence.
“The company’s strategic approach, combined with its robust operational foundation in Tanzania, positions us well for success in the rapidly growing African digital entertainment sector and I’m thrilled to be heading up the operations in the continent.”
