Jason Scott appointed to lead The Bookie Group’s next phase of growth

Key points:

– Jason Scott named CEO of The Bookie Group (TBG), following previous roles at Entain, BetMGM and Racing Queensland

– TBG plans to launch multiple new betting brands across 2025 and 2026, building on its current PonyBet offering

– The group operates on BetMakers’ Apollo platform, following a strategic partnership

The Bookie Group (TBG) has appointed former Racing Queensland CEO Jason Scott as its new CEO, as the company accelerates plans to broaden its presence in Australia’s regulated wagering market.

Scott brings a background in both operational leadership and commercial strategy, having held executive positions at Entain, BetMGM and Racing Queensland.

His appointment comes as TBG looks to build on the performance of its flagship betting brand, PonyBet and roll out several additional offerings over the next 18 months.

Scott said: “I’m excited to do something fresh, working with great people and cutting-edge technology. TBG is bringing a modern, agile approach to wagering that I believe is well aligned with where the market is heading.”

TBG’s betting infrastructure is built on BetMakers Technology Group’s Apollo platform, which the company adopted as part of a broader strategy to deliver scalable and differentiated betting experiences.

BetMakers COO Martin Tripp commented: “The early success of PonyBet on the Apollo platform has been fantastic to see and a great endorsement of the BetMakers solution.”

Good to know: PonyBet went live earlier this year and is currently the group’s only active brand, with others in development for staged release from 2025

The announcement follows a wave of broader sector movements in Australia, including Picklebet’s recent membership in Responsible Wagering Australia (RWA). As regulatory pressures increase and operators seek to differentiate through product innovation, new market arrivals like TBG are expected to play a growing role in reshaping the local landscape.

Scott stated: “I have been impressed with the technology and the team at BetMakers and I am looking forward to collaborating with our respective teams to deliver more unique and engaging products.”
