Catena Media acquires Japanese affiliate network

liate industry heavyweight Catena Media has announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire an unnamed Japanese affiliate network, strengthening its position in the Asian market for a cost of $5.5m.

According to the firm, the sites acquired represent some of the highest ranked casino websites in Japan. Under the terms of the purchase, Catena will pay $4m upon transference of the networks assets, with a further $1.5m to be paid six months after the completion of the deal.

In a statement, Catena have confirmed that the acquired assets currently generate quarterly sales of around €350,000 with an operating margin of around 80%.

Catena has also confirmed that the firm’s three full time employees and four freelance journalists will join the company and Catena’s current Japanese domains will be integrated into the acquired firm.

Welcoming the acquisition, Robert Andersson, CEO of Catena Media added: “This is a good example of an acquisition in line with our global growth strategy, and we will be well positioned for future expansion in Asia.”
