New campaign attempts to legalise gambling in Nebraska

Pro-casino gambling groups in Nebraska are to put forward a petition in favour of gambling before the 2020 general election.

A campaign committee, known as “Keep The Money,” is seeking a constitutional amendment to legalise gambling at Nebraska’s horseracing tracks.

This is not the first attempt to try and legalise gambling in the state, as a similar effort in 2016 failed.

This was due to the fact supporters did not submit enough signatures to place the issue on the ballot, according to the secretary of state’s office.

Almost 120,000 signatures were presented on that particular occasion, although 42,000 were rejected for being invalid.

There will be a new signature collection group this time round.
