McCue will assume the position of non-executive director, effective immediately, announced by the operator at its annual general meeting (AGM).

McCue spent 10 years at Paddy Power from 2006, some of which was as head of retail, before becoming CEO in 2015 for more than a year, then moving to COO briefly in 2016.

Since, he has held roles at Hostelworld and most recently was CEO of The Restaurant Group, a role he held from 2016, until leaving last summer. Former co-COO of GVC Holdings Andy Hornby succeeded him in the role.

Elsewhere, Patrick Svensk was re-elected as chairman of the board, while Fredrik Carlsson, Eva Leach, Johan Lundberg and Jan Nord were re-elected as directors.

The AGM additionally approved proposals from the board regarding guidelines for the remuneration of senior executives.

In April, Betsson reported it generated a 7% year-on-year rise for both reported and organic revenue for Q1, to SEK 1.4bn ($150.8m), stating while it was largely unaffected by the coronavirus pandemic; Q2 and beyond should feel the effects.
