Retail gaming venues resume work in Italy

Italy’s gaming venues are re-opening after the shutdown during the virus outbreak. The venues, which were closed on 10 March, include betting shops, gaming arcades and bingo halls. With the country easing restrictions, gambling venues resumed work on 12 June, and many of the operators welcomed back guests over the weekend.

The venues are only allowed to open if they follow the regulations issued by the government assigned to protect both the staff and guests. Regulations include required face masks, installed hand sanitiser stations, signs to encourage social distancing, and temperature checks before entering the building.

Failure to comply would include suspension of operations by closing the venue for up to five days.

SKS365 was one of the first to announce resumption of operations, opening 1,000 Planetwin365 shops all over the country. The company’s shops received an Opening Safety Kit, which contained masks, sanitisers and dividing barriers.

Alexander Martin, SKS365 chief executive, stated “It’s been a crucial time for the business and absolutely necessary given the spread of Covid-19.” Technological updates have been rolled out, including a self-service bet booking system and increased speed to place bets. The new software is even set to “help shop owners and customers maintain safe social distancing”.
