Casumo inks deal with CasinoSecret in first acquisition

Online casino and sportsbook operator Casumo has completed its first acquisition after finalising a deal to buy CasinoSecret.

Founded in 2018, Malta-based CasinoSecret operates under an MGA license and has a growing online gaming portfolio based on an emphasis on customer experience with cashback features.

“Our ongoing drive to deliver the best online casino experience through innovation and high local relevance fits Casumo’s mission well,” said CasinoSecret CEO Nadir Ounissi. “Together we now open new doors to shared expertise and exciting opportunities across the brands.”

While the sum of the transaction remains undisclosed, the acquisition will see Casumo benefit from added industry expertise and improved player retention, something the operator couldn’t fully achieve if it maintained its initial 40% stake in the casino, which it acquired last year.

“We have developed an ambitious and exciting collaboration with the team at CasinoSecret, which made the merger a clear next step from all perspectives,” said Casumo CEO Shelly Suter-Hadad. “The acquisition will enable us to further leverage the strong synergies and shared direction of both businesses, while taking our group portfolio to the next level.”

Founded in 2012, Casumo grew quickly, expanding in 2018 from casino to sports betting, launching the Kambi sportbook in the UK. Casumo then secured a sponsorship deal with English Football League Championship club Reading FC, while its Dunder online casino brand was already sponsoring Bristol City.
