BetCity becomes IBIA’s newest member
By Gambling Insider

All licensed online sports betting operators in the Netherlands are required to join an international monitoring body, and BetCity.nl has opted for the IBIA, whose existing members account for more than $137bn of global wagering turnover per annum.

By selecting the IBIA, BetCity.nl follows in the footsteps of the majority of operators licensed in the Netherlands, who according to the Association, have selected it to meet their integrity monitoring requirements.

This also comes as online wagering is anticipated to boom in the Netherlands. Citing data from consultancy firm H2 Gambling Capital, the IBIA said online sports betting in the Netherlands is expected to hit around €2bn ($2.27bn) in turnover in 2022.

Kylian Olierook, Head of Operations at BetCity.nl, commented: “At Betcity.nl we are proud to become a member of the IBIA and combat corruption to protect the integrity of sports, together with our sportsbook partner Kambi.

“We are committed to protecting sports and the consumers and are excited to join forces with the leading voice in this area.”

The IBIA, which recently launched in the North American market, said it expects to make further member announcements over the coming months, especially as similar integrity monitoring requirements will be enforced in Ontario’s soon-to-launch market, as well as various US states.

At the time, Khalid Ali, IBIA CEO, said: “We will play a crucial role in protecting and supporting the growth of the betting industry in the US and Canada.”

The Association’s members account for nearly 50% of all regulated commercial operator online betting activity.
