BCLC named as “5-Star Diversity & Inclusion Employer”
By Gambling Insider

The Human Resources Director Canada website hailed BCLC as a “5-Star Diversity & Inclusion Employer”, saying that the company had gone “above and beyond” in working to establish and maintain an inclusive working environment.

BCLC Interim Chief People Officer, Sandy Austin, said: “As a social-purpose company, we work to generate win-wins for the greater good, and fostering a more inclusive culture is an important part of how we do that for our people. We are proud of what we have accomplished but acknowledge there is still progress to be made on our journey towards diversity, inclusion and belonging for all.”

BCLC was the only Canadian organisation to be recognised in the category for companies with 500-2,499 staff, and in May 2022, The Canadian HR Reporter named BCLC a “Leading Diversity & Inclusion Employer”.

In a statement, the company outlined its goal of creating “an environment free of discrimination and open to diverse perspectives, where all employees feel they are seen, heard and belong.”

BCLC launched a new DI&B policy in 2021 in an effort to support the company’s values of “respect, integrity and community”, and to work towards further commitments to “equity, inclusion and anti-racism.”

In June 2022, BCLC signed a vendor agreement with the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority to bring BCLC’s PlayNow platform to players in Saskatchewan.
