Hard Rock opens temporary casino in Bristol, Virginia
By Gambling Insider

To commemorate the official launch of “Bristol Casino – Future Home of Hard Rock,” the operator held a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

In attendance were state and city officials, alongside Hard Rock higher ups and local business leaders. These included Jon Lucas, Hard Rock International’s Chief Operating Officer (COO).

“We are excited to open the temporary casino in Bristol,” he said. “Hard Rock’s rich and storied music legacy is a perfect fit for Bristol, the ‘Birthplace of Country Music.’

“The casino’s gaming and dining amenities will make it a major entertainment destination for residents from across the region.”

Hard Rock typically performs its “signature guitar smashing” to inaugurate new properties, but given the temporary nature of the Bristol site, has chosen to save this for when a permanent casino opens.

This is still on the cards, but the interim facility in Bristol will allow customers to gamble in the meantime. Located at the site of the old Bristol Mall, Hard Rock’s new outing boasts 30,000 square feet of casino space, with 870 slots, 21 tables and a sportsbook.

According to Lucas, a permanent casino will open “within two years.” He continued: “We appreciate the ongoing collaboration from the Virginia Lottery. Their team has been great to work with.

“Finally, we look forward to opening the permanent casino within two years and bringing the full legendary Hard Rock experience to Bristol.”

Allie Evangelista, who was named President of the Bristol casino in February, was similarly enthusiastic. She remarked: “I could not be prouder of our amazing team in the energy and enthusiasm they have shown to help us open the doors to guests today.

“The casino will join the region’s other fun entertainment and recreational tourism assets to help attract even more visitors to Bristol, the Tri-Cities and Southwest Virginia.”
