DraftKings to launch sportsbook in Kansas on day one
By Matthew Nicholson

As the NFL and college football seasons begin to get underway, DraftKings has acted promptly in immediately making its sportsbook available on launch day for sports betting in the recently opened up state.

The offering is subject to regulatory approval, but this is likely to pass as DraftKings currently offers a sportsbook in 17 other states within the US.

Kansas officially signed sports betting into law on 12 May, following approval by the Kansas state legislator earlier this year; 1 September was announced as the official launch date of sports betting, with DraftKings, BetMGM and FanDuel all seeking approval to begin taking consumer bets on the big day.

Matt Kalish, DraftKings Co-Founder and President, DraftKings North America, said of the launch: “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to deliver our products to Kansas sports fans for the 2022 NFL and college football seasons. It’s an especially exhilarating time of year, and we are excited for eligible Kansans to be able to get in on all the action through DraftKings’ seamless and responsible sports betting experience.”

The news comes as DraftKings announced it was set to open the biggest sportsbook in Louisiana, following a deal with the Golden Nugget Lake Charles hotel and casino; while also launching its Rocket casino game in Pennsylvania, which is now available in every US state where iGaming is legal – as well as Ontario, Canada.
