Betsson joins United Nations Global Compact initiative
By Gambling Insider

As part of this commitment, Betsson has pledged to incorporate the 10 principles of the Global Compact into its plans and business practices, especially those related to labour, the environment and anti-corruption.

The UN Global Compact, which includes thousands of company participants and other stakeholders from civil society, labour and government in over 160 countries, encourages businesses to implement the 10 principles into their operations and policies. It also encourages companies to take on projects that further the UN's more general development aims, including the Sustainable Development Goals.

The 10 principles offer guidance for companies to conduct themselves in a socially and ecologically responsible manner. They are drawn from international frameworks such as the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Jesper Svensson, Betsson Group CEO, said: “We are proud to be joining the Global Compact and taking this next step towards strengthening our sustainability efforts.

“We believe in the power of business to drive positive change and are committed to using our resources to contribute to the global effort to create a more inclusive and sustainable world for all.”

Additionally, Betsson will be required to submit an annual Communication on Progress detailing the company's attempts to put the principles into practice and show the consequence of its actions as part of its participation.

Recently, Greco signed a deal with Betsson Group, which will see it provide the latter with its risk engine.
