By Lucy Wynne

Swedish iGaming company LeoVegas joins the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR) ahead of the market being regulated later this year.

LeoVegas has been operating in Brazil since 2019. Other members of the IBJR include bet365, Betsson Group, Betway Group, Entain, Flutter, Okto Group, Netbet Group, Rei do Pitaco and Yolo Group. The group of operators has joined forces with the IBJR to build a 'fair and sustainable' gambling market in Brazil.

LeoVegas has also recently launched its Expekt brand in Denmark, as well as being granted three new five-year B2B licenses in Sweden.

Alongside its expansions, in February 2023, LeoVegas earned the 'Online Casino of the Year' Award at the 2023 Global Gaming Awards London for the sixth year in a row.

André Gelfi, CEO of the IBJR, commented: “The new members are companies of great prestige in the betting sector, have international expertise in regulated markets and identify with the IBJR’s mission of collaborating with society for a regulated, fair, sustainable market that prioritises sporting integrity and player safety.”

A LeoVegas spokesperson said: “We are delighted to announce that LeoVegas Group has joined O Instituto Brasileiro do Jogo Responsável (the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming, IBJR), bolstering its commitment to fostering responsible gaming and facilitating constructive discussions on the regulation of the iGaming industry.

“As a proud member of the IBJR, LeoVegas Group is excited to contribute to these important discussions, reflecting our continued commitment to promoting responsible gaming.”
