The Star and Konami extend Synkros partnership
By Matthew Nicholson

The Star Entertainment has signed an expanded and extended deal with Konami Gaming, which will see the continuation of an agreement in place since 2008.

The new agreement will 'enhance the future of casino entertainment' through their pair’s ‘Synkros Casino Systems Partnership for Technological Advancement.’

The new features as part of the deal include: Cashless wagering/digital wallet; mandatory card-based play; an enhanced identity management system through Konami’s Synkros system; and the digitalisation of existing gaming offerings, thereby modernising older games for ‘today’s players.’

Robbie Cooke said of the deal: "Our collaboration has yielded outstanding results over the years, and this extension will help us deliver significant advancements in our ongoing commitment to responsible gaming and harm minimisation.”

Meanwhile, Steve Sutherland, Konami Gaming President & CEO, said of the expanded partnership: "We are thrilled to embark on this extended journey with The Star Entertainment Group. Our joint commitment to innovation and excellence will not only transform the cashless gaming experience but also set new industry benchmarks for years to come."

Finally, Joe Mayer, systems sales and operations manager APAC at Konami Australia, added: “In partnership with Star Entertainment Group, we at Konami are excited to leverage the future technology development from this partnership, expanding offerings within Synkros to the wider market.”

Both were keen to highlight that the new deal will foster a collaborative approach in regards to Australia’s regulatory landscape, which comes after The Star’s endless regulatory issues in the past 18 months.
