By Gambling Insider

Cashless payment companies Koin and Marker Trax have named Mark D Hemmerle as their Chief Legal Officer (CLO). Hemmerle's appointment comes as both companies expand their cashless technology into markets across the US.

With over 20 years of experience in executive leadership and compliance counsel roles at Shift4Payments, Vantiv/Worldpay and Hyatt Grand Victoria Casino, Hemmerle aims to bring expertise in navigating legal and compliance matters within regulatory environments.

Gary Larkin, President of Koin, said: “Mark’s expertise lies uniquely at the intersection of emerging technologies and navigating complex compliance issues – aptitudes that align perfectly with the innovations we’re implementing in the industry.”

Hemmerle holds an economics degree from the University of Cincinnati, a law degree from the University of Denver College of Law and has undertaken additional studies at the university's School of International Studies.

He has also participated in the University of Nevada, Reno's Executive Development Program in gaming and presented at industry events.

Marker Trax and Koin recently expanded their partnership with payment provider Euronet, aiming to leverage Euronet’s global payments network. This collaboration connects with over 1.9 billion wallet customers and 4.2 billion personal bank accounts, including ownership of Ria Money Transfer, a remittance payment company.

This development follows recent appointments within both Marker Trax and Koin earlier this year, including Melissa Lambson joining Marker Trax as the CCO and Scott Carcillo being appointed as Koin’s CCO, bringing experience from their backgrounds in banking, gaming and payments industries.
