Betsson Group CEO: Swedish regulator must provide operators with “the right guidance”
By Tim Poole

However, Svensson feels the relationship can only improve with better guidance from the SGA.

A large number of gaming firms, including a Betsson subsidiary, have been fined or warned in Sweden since its gaming market was re-regulated on 1 January.

For Svensson, the right guidance to help avoid this problem means more than just referring an operator to "a legal paragraph."

The Betsson Group CEO told Gambling Insider: "The dialogue between operators and the regulator is not as developed as it is in other jurisdictions, so I think that will improve going forward.

"It also comes down to getting the right guidance. If there is something you need guidance on in the new regulation, it’s important the regulator gives the operator that information and not just refers them to a legal paragraph.

"Here, I think the Swedish regulator has some work to do."

Svensson was speaking with Gambling Insider exclusively for the cover feature of the Malta Focus magazine, which will be available in November and distributed at SiGMA. Click here to read when available.
