Super Bowl helps drive Nevada gaming growth for February

The total is the highest monthly sum to have been reported since May ($1.03bn) and is up from January’s $925.3m.

Sports-pool betting accounted for $28m of the total, representing a 99% upturn, driven by Super Bowl 50, contested between the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos and held on 7 February.

The Super Bowl generated $132.5m in wagers with Nevada sports books this year, a record total, and sports book win from the event was $13.3m.

Win from slot machines was $609.4m, a rise of 8% and total games and tables produced gaming win of $380.4m, up 9%.

A majority of the gaming win was generated by Clark County’s 166 casinos, with gaming win for the area being up 8% to $863.3m.

Within Clark County, the Las Vegas Strip produced $570.3m gaming win, which ascended 7%.

The state’s gaming win for the last 12 months totals $11.16bn, up 1%.
