GLI to pay $125,000 settlement after being disciplined by Nevada regulators
GLI has paid a $125,000 settlement after becoming the first ever independent testing lab to be disciplined by the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB), according to CDC Gaming Reports.
The NGCB issued a three-count complaint against GLI, relating to its certification of a product for supplier Interblock in December 2016.
The product in question was Interblock’s Pulse Arena system, which is also integrated with a system from IGT.
GLI has agreed to pay a $125,000 settlement but, in so doing, GLI outside legal counsel Dan Reaser defended the company’s position. Reaser suggested the complaints in question only equate to a 0.00012 error rate and that GLI would have “vigorously defended” its position had the matter gone forward.
Ultimately, Reaser stated GLI wanted to put the matter behind it and avoid litigation with the NGCB, due to its close relationship with the regulator.
However, the NGCB alleged GLI certified the system before its integration.
The complaint also stated GLI did not act independently from Interblock and it broke confidentiality terms, providing the firm with sample reports for other manufacturers.
