SkyCity expects to re-open Auckland venue

SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited expects to reopen its Auckland property on August 31. Currently, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the New Zealand government stated Auckland remains at Alert Level 3 for another week, until 11:59 pm on August 30. The company’s announcement stated if there’s “no significant change in the current COVID-19 cluster’s growth and trajectory”, the level would move down to 2.

SkyCity expects to re-open Auckland venue

Currently, the rest of New Zealand is at Alert Level 2, which includes SkyCity properties in Hamilton and Queenstown. Auckland’s property was also operational for some time but was returned to a higher level due to an outbreak within the city.

Re-opening Auckland’s venue will mean implementing “the same physical distancing and hygiene measures” that are currently in place for the other company’s casinos.

At Alert Level 2, gatherings in Auckland will be restricted to 10 people, which would limit the number of guests that are permitted to enter the casino. The New Zealand Government intends to review the Alert Levels on September 6.
