Casumo Group discontinues its Dutch services after KSA policy changes

Casumo Group has announced the discontinuation of its services in the Netherlands, following the Gambling Authority, Kansspelautoriteit’s (KSA) recent policy changes.

Casumo Group discontinues its Dutch services after KSA policy changes

Earlier this year, the KSA announced it had received 28 applicant requests from operators seeking the opportunity to offer gaming in the newly regulated market. To obtain such a licence, all hopeful companies are required to pay a fee of €48,000 ($58,000).

From 1 October 2021, only 10 companies will be legally permitted to begin operations in the Netherlands’ new regulated online gambling market. From this date, Casumo Group will no longer be available to its Dutch players.

Any illegal offerings of games will incur a fine, with a strict increase, of which the KSA has already enforced onto Malta-based operator Tipico for unlawfully providing online gaming websites.

The KSA announced that only operators that meet all requirements and conditions will be granted a licence. Companies are assessed on many factors, including but not limited to its actions to diminish irresponsible and dangerous forms of gambling, preventing gambling addiction and adhering to a healthy way of play for customers.

René Jansen, KSA Board Chairman, said: “The intention of the law is to channel players from illegal providers to legally reliable providers.”

Since the Casumo Group aims to further expand its brand in locally regulated markets, the decision to discontinue its access comes after its dedication to comply with the laws of the Netherlands. This cements the company’s focus on continuing to take the relevant steps in preparation for its full licence – enabling legal access to operate in 2022.
