The resort (which currently has two potential sites proposed) will be built in two phases. The first $1bn phase will feature 2,700 slot machines and 95 table games, a 100-all suite luxury hotel, an outdoor music venue and green space for recreation and dining options.

The second phase will expand Bally’s Chicago with an additional $600m investments to add up to 4,000 total gaming positions, a 400-room hotel tower with a rooftop pool and bar, a 3,000-seat indoor entertainment venue and a 20,000-square-foot exhibition space.

Bally’s minority investors have a 25% ownership stake in the project and include philanthropists, business owners, sports stars, celebrities, and Chigaco citizens of diverse ethnic and gender representation.

The resort wants to recruit, train and hire a team that “reflects the diversity of the city” and has committed to certain hiring goals: 30% vendor diversity, 45% women, 45% minority, 5% veterans and 5% persons with disability.

Soo Kim, Bally’s Chairman, commented: “Chicago is a dynamic, world-class city, which is why we are committing to make a $1.6bn investment in establishing Bally’s Chicago as our flagship, and the only property in its class in the Chicagoland market.

“This property will be built, owned and operated by Chicagoans, with a focus on minority and women investors, contractors, suppliers, consultants and employees. It will generate tax revenue, create good-paying jobs and attract international, national, and local visitors for generations to come.”
