DraftKings signs deal with ECL Corbin for access to Kentucky markets

DraftKings has signed an agreement with ECL Corbin, a subsidiary of ECL Entertainment, which would allow it to operate in Kentucky following licensure and regulatory approvals.

As well as launching mobile sports betting through the agreement, DraftKings also expects to open retail sportsbooks across Corbin properties as well, such as The Mint Gaming Hall at Cumberland and Cumberland Run.

Matt Kalish, DraftKings North America President, said: “Together with the Corbin properties, we’re excited to bring our premier sports betting experience to yet another state and its sports fans.

“We want to thank the Kentucky General Assembly for passing legislation and Governor Andy Beshear for his support of sports wagering as we look forward to launching our sportsbook product during a busy football season, pending licensure and regulatory approvals.”

The legislation that passed online sports betting was signed March 2023, which will allow anyone over the age of 18 to wager on professional sports leagues, as well as collegiate sports.

It’s anticipated that online sports betting will launch 28 September, 2023, although the first mobile deposits will be allowed from 7 September and registration at online sportsbooks as early as 28 August.

Marc Falcone, ECL Corbin Co-Managing Partner, said: “The Corbin properties are truly excited to work with DraftKings, one of the country’s leading sportsbook operators.

“This will be a great relationship for both companies.”

In its recent Q2 reports, DraftKings announced a near-90% annual jump in revenue.
