Xpoint expands geolocation operations across multiple states

This brings the total number of states where Xpoint is authorised to operate to 19, with ongoing efforts to secure licences in other legally permissible states.

Xpoint expands geolocation operations across multiple states

Xpoint has recently acquired licences to operate in 12 additional states and the District of Columbia. The company, which is already operational in various states, has extended its reach to include Colorado, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Wyoming and the District of Columbia.

CEO Manu Gambhir stated: “Today’s multi-licensure announcement marks a milestone in our journey and our vote of confidence in the continued growth of online gaming in the USA. Until now, there has only been a single geolocation provider in the industry, creating risk for operators, slowing innovation and keeping costs high due to a lack of competition.

“These additional licences are a major step forward in allowing the industry to evolve and bring the most advanced geolocation platform to market.”

Xpoint’s geolocation platform, known as Xpoint Verify, is designed for iGaming and sports betting, focusing on regulatory geo-compliance. Xpoint Verify aims to ensure accurate geolocation tracking, preventing fraud and providing marketing insights to operators.

In a partnership announced on 22 January 2024, fantasy sports operator PrizePicks collaborated with Xpoint to integrate geolocation technology into its platform. The technology is designed to counter online gaming fraud by extracting user locations and providing compliant experiences. The integration is part of PrizePicks’ ongoing efforts to meet industry demands and enhance its offerings.

Earlier this month, Xpoint secured a Maryland licence in collaboration with Crab Sports, a Maryland-based sportsbook operator. The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission awarded Xpoint a sports wagering contractor licence in 2023, expanding its reach across the US and Ontario. The Xpoint Verify solution is intended to ensure strict compliance with Maryland’s gaming regulations by confirming player locations within authorised betting jurisdictions.
