Twitch streamer fined DKK 10,000 for advertising illegal game providers
This is not the first time that Spillemyndigheden has had to step in after Twitch streamers promoted illegal gambling on the website.
Key points:
– The Danish Gambling Authority has finded a Twitch streamer DKK 10,000
– This follows an investigation into the creator, who was found to advertise illegal game providers several times
– As such, the matter was reported to the police
Spillemyndigheden has fined a Twitch streamer DKK 10,000 ($1,505) for advertising illegal game providers on his stream.
The Danish Gambling Authority noted they had had advertised game providers that did not hold a licence necessary to operate in the jurisdiction several times before.
As such, the violations were reported to the police and the streamer was fined DKK 10,000 as recommended by the Authority.
This marks the second time that the Danish Gambling Authority has been successful in taking measures against a Twitch streamer found platforming illegal casino games on the site.
Good to know: Many Twitch streamers still take part in skin gambling, which is a form of unregulated gambling using in-game items on black market sites
Twitch used to allow many forms of gambling content on its website, but after negative feedback on the matter, the platform took steps to restrict the kind of content allowed on stream.
For example, sites such as Stake and Roobet are banned from Twitch, as well as any sites that are not licensed by a reputable jurisdiction.
In the Twitch terms and conditions, it also explains that the site does “not allow users to share links or affiliate codes to sites that contain slots, roulette, or dice games”.
Recently, Spillemynhidegen revealed that the Danish gambling spend rose in March, driven by strong growth in the online casino sector.
