Colombia’s gambling sector contributes over $225m to subsidised health

Coljuegos President Marco Emilio Hincapié announced that Colombia’s gambling sector transferred COP 883.9bn to the subsidised health system in the first half of 2025.

Of the total amount, COP 566.5bn came from national games such as lotteries, raffles and promotional draws under Coljuegos concessions. 

This represented a 26.9% increase compared to the same period in 2024. Territorial games, including chance, Raspa&Listo and local lotteries, contributed COP 317.4bn, reflecting a 7% rise year-on-year.

Hincapié noted that despite the challenges posed by digital transformation, the lottery segment recorded a 5% sales increase in the period January to June. 

He highlighted that 15 departmental lotteries transferred COP 137.3bn in total, with Bogotá, Huila and the Extraordinary Draw of Colombia showing the largest increases. Lotteries in Boyacá and Medellín paid out the highest prize amounts.

Medellín Lottery was named the top-selling lottery in the first half of 2025, while Bogotá Lottery achieved the greatest growth in transfers to health.

Bibiana Garcés González, General Manager of Lotería de Risaralda and host of the Congress, stressed the importance of collaboration between national and regional operators to expand contributions to health.

The Congress also featured discussions on innovation in lottery sales, corporate social responsibility and the commercial expansion of territorial games.
