The Paulista Football Federation (FPF) sanctioned three clubs that play in the third tier of the Sao Paulo state championship, Campeonato Paulista Serie A3, after they were found guilty of match-fixing activities in November.

Barretos EC, Paulista FC and Olimpia FC each received a four-month ban as well as fines, with players and staff also suspended.

Alongside the four-month ban, Barretos were fined $9,400 with four players receiving a year-long ban, and its goalkeeper suspended for six-months.

Paulista were fined $4,700 with one of its defender’s banned for a year, while Olimpia were also fined the same amount and saw one player given a one-year ban.

The case was overseen by the FPF in collaboration with Sportradar Integrity Services, Sao Paulo Civil Police and state prosecutors.

Sportradar’s integrity division aims to detect, investigate, and prevent betting-related match-fixing, and provides it’s monitoring and safeguarding services to the likes of FIFA, the National Football League (NFL) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Sportradar Integrity Services business development manager Juan Mendez, said: “Our monitoring system (FDS) once again proved to be critical to detect the irregularities recorded in the betting markets, which allowed us to inform the Paulista Football Federation in real time, and also support the police investigation, which included providing expert testimony during preliminary auditions

“We are delighted to see that our FDS reports have once again been considered reliable evidence to help support proceedings in a major sporting court.”
