The former Tottenham Hotspur defender has also been fined £70,000 ($94,000) after breaching the Football Association’s (FA) betting rules.

Initially, Trippier denied seven breaches, which were alleged to have taken place in July 2019, then requesting a personal hearing.

However, the independent regulatory commission found that four of the alleged breaches were proven, although three were dismissed.

As such, Trippier is now banned from playing football or conducting any football-related activity, effective from Wednesday 23 December 2020.

In a similar case earlier this year, former England and Liverpool footballer Daniel Sturridge was suspended from all football-related activity for four months in March.

Sturridge was initially banned for six weeks last summer but the FA appealed the decision, with an independent appeal board extending the ban and doubling his fine to £150,000.
