Mecca Bingo to reopen venues next week

Mecca Bingo is to reopen its clubs in England, Scotland and Wales on May 17 as governments lift Covid-19 restrictions.

Mecca predicts that after a year of restrictions, it will see a wider and younger demographic come to its bingo clubs, as people find new ways to spend their leisure time.

The operator says it has employed extensive safety measures throughout the pandemic, and is focused on providing a safe experience for customers that visit its bingo halls and lounges.

To limit the amount of people inside venues at the same time, Mecca has introduced different sessions times across the day and introduced a new hourly bingo to increase flexibility.

National Operations Director at Mecca Bingo, John Dyson, said: “We’re expecting this to be the year of bingo, and we’re coming back in style. People are going to expect a lot more from their leisure spend and are keen to find new social experiences that are value for money and packed with entertainment.

"Bingo ticks every box and we expect to see high demand from a new audience who want to have some fun in a safe, spacious and welcoming environment. As such we’ve really ramped up plans to evolve the bingo experience in ways that will appeal to a new audience.”

The reopening of Mecca’s venues coincides with the companys 60th anniversary; the operator says it is celebrating its anniversary by adding new items to its menus, new formats to bingo games and even more entertainment.
