The testing took place on 21-26 May, with all the results coming back negative. “This was done in addition to our enhanced polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing regime for all team members working on property,” said the company. “Routine testing takes place every 14 or 28 days, based on job profiles and risk exposure.”

The decision to test the employees came after the venue had to be temporarily closed for deep cleaning from 17 to 19 May when two of the casino employees tested positive for Covid-19. According to the statement, the company complies with the strict health and safety regulations in the country to ensure the wellbeing of the staff and guests. “In these unprecedented times, we continue to be vigilant on all fronts, working closely with the authorities to respond and adapt quickly to the situation.”

Manila Bay Sands continues to operate its casino at a reduced capacity. The casino resumed its operations on 19 May, with no more than two people at one gaming table. The hotel service allows for staycation bookings, with a maximum of two people in the room.

Attractions like ArtScience Museum or Digital Light Canvas resumed work at 25% capacity, while restaurants still cannot offer the dine-in option. The fitness centre and some of the clubs located in the property remain closed until further notice.

On 16 May, Singapore entered a Heightened Alert level as the number of Covid-19 cases grew. The measures are said to run until 13 June.
