SJM Holdings changes subsidiary name
SJM Holdings Ltd has changed the name of its subsidiary, Sociedade de Jogos de Macau SA, which holds a Macau gaming licence.
The subsidiary will now be known as SJM Resorts Ltd. The operator wants the name to better reflect its “prominent position in the tourism and leisure business, and its dedication to the development and operation of integrated resorts in Macau.”
Together with the change of name, SJM Holdings is planning to open the Grand Lisboa Palace in Cotai. The HK$39bn ($5bn) gaming resort will reflect other SJM properties in Macau, Hotel Lisboa and Grand Lisboa.
The opening of Grand Lisboa Palace is tentatively scheduled for the first half of 2021, but the opening has been delayed several times already, as it was originally predicted it will open its doors in late 2019 or early 2020.
Located next to Grand Lisboa Palace is the non-gaming venue Lisboeta Macau, which announced it will be opening a number of facilities on 17 July. The attractions include indoor skydiving, the first such experience in Macau, and a 388-meter long zip line
“These facilities together make a unique check-in point for local residents and tourists to enjoy leisure, entertainment and food at one point,” said Macau Theme Park and Resort (MTPR), the operator of the property.
The venue is currently being used as a quarantine hotel, but Connie Kong, director of MTPR, assured the visitor attractions and the quarantine area will be separate: “We will still be supporting the Government to operate the Optional Medical Observation Hotel, while the attraction facilities are independent from the hotel tower, which allows visitors to enjoy the facilities.”
