Some analysts believe taking an early approach would benefit communities in the long run, while others maintain that there isn’t enough evidence to justify a stricter lockdown. This is, by now, becoming a familiar debate for regions across the world during the pandemic.
Currently, the capital is placed under general community quarantine with some heightened restrictions since mid-June, and this will be extended until 15 August.
Not all businesses are allowed to open, but reportedly some casinos will continue to operate. City of Dreams Manila allows guests by invitation only, Solaire Resort & Casino is open to members only, while Okada Manila remains closed.
It’s likely that all these casinos would be required to shut their doors if the Government imposes a stricter lockdown on the city.
A new Covid-19 variant is becoming more prevalent in Asia and, as a way to battle the surge, City of Dreams Manila plans to offer free Covid-19 vaccinations to its employees, according to GGRAsia.
“We have plans to help vaccinate our employee population at no cost to them and are coordinating efforts through a variety of sources,” said the casino.
Okada Manila is also offering free vaccinations to its staff; the offer is said to be active since July and should last into the fourth quarter. The casino said the scheme should cover more than 5,700 employees and their dependents.
Resorts World Manila has reportedly distributed free vaccines for staff through its parent firm, Alliance Global Group Inc, since March.
