Gibraltar Gambling Division issues warning to Luckywins

The Gibraltar Gaming Division has issued a consumer warning to the gambling website Luckywins.io.

issuing warning

The warning was a result of several consumer complaints in regard to the website. According to the complaints, consumers have been “tempted to the website by large and probably false bonus offers.”

The site utilised a footer that wrongly used the Government of Gibraltar logo and a bogus “GB” licence number. This is both false and misleading, according to the regulator.

The website would encourage users to upload documents to a different site that could be used to commit identity theft.

Several investigations revealed the contact address given on the site is presumably located in La Linea, Spain.

A list of several B2B suppliers is shown on the site, but the Gibraltar Gaming Division considers the list to be misleading and stated “the site may be using stolen IP/code and illegally cloning game content.”

According to information found on the Gambling Division’s website, enquiries are continuing.

Gambling Commissioner Andrew Lyman stated: “From time to time, illegal sites try to obtain credibility by claiming they are licensed in Gibraltar.

"Their aim is to lull consumers into a false sense of security and we would encourage all consumers to carry out due diligence, and to avoid providing any details where there are doubts about licensed status. Licensed status can be checked on our website.”

All gambling operations in Gibraltar have to be licensed under the Gambling Act 2005. All remote gambling, including telephone and internet betting, is issued by the Licensing Authority.
